MIDWAY

Ty and I have been trying to get up to our cabin for the past month and we were finally able to go with some of our friends on Friday. It was so fun and a much needed getaway! We just relaxed, ate dinner, played a serious game of guesstures, and enjoyed the hot tub. We will definitely have to make this a more common occurrence!

This picture took some serious work with the camera timer!
Thanks boys for putting up with us crazy girls! :)

KISS THE COOK

Happy Valentine's to everyone! I want to tribute this post to my one and only valentine who I love so much! If any of you know Ty he is the happiest and most loveable guy in the world and I am so happy and grateful to be married to him! I appreciate all that he does for me and for us as a family.

For our Valentine's we got to spend the afternoon demonstrating our "expertise" in making banana foster. We were asked to be on the channel 2 cooking show for sweetheart's week along with Governor Huntsman and his wife, Salt Lake City mayor Ralph Becker and his wife, and Salt Lake County mayor Peter Caroon and his wife. Ya! I know! I don't know where we fit in but I must say I was not made for TV. I posted the link to watch the two clips of us only for all of you to enjoy a good laugh! I realize that I must laugh at myself for how goofy and awkward I am on TV or else I just get embarrassed. I am just really grateful I am not the one trying to make a living as a journalist!

Just so you all know the recipe is fabulous! I recommend it to everyone!
¼ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ cup banana liquor
¼ cup rum
4 bananas, quartered
Serve with: Ice cream, waffles, crepesMelt butter, add sugar and cinnamon until mixture forms a syrup. Add banana liquor, then bananas and cook until bananas start to turn brown. Remove from heat and add flame, return to heat and cook for about 30 seconds. Alcohol will cook off. Cool slightly and serve over ice cream, waffles or crepes.

We Thank Thee Oh God For A Prophet

We just wanted to make a post in honor of President Hinckley. At the time of his death we want to take time to celebrate the life that he lived. He was and will always be an example to us and our family as how we should live our lives. Not only was he a great prophet but father, husband and friend. If we can have as much love, humor, and faith in our lives as he did we will live a very happy life. We love you President Hinckley!

KUTV Contract

I don't know how familiar everyone is with the news business but it is cut throat! Ty has been working night and day since we moved back from Idaho Falls as a freelance reporter. That means that he wasn't officially part of the 2news team but just an on call reporter they could call if they needed him. Luckily Channel 2 has needed him to fill in usually more than 40 hours a week. But it has been nerve racking because he has had to be available every minute of the day. He has worked every single holiday and has been called in at 3 in the morning too many times for me to count. All this time we just had to hope that they were liking him and would eventually give him a contract. Well it finally happened! Yesterday Ty was officially offered a job to become apart of the 2news team! I am so proud of him! He has worked so hard these last 2 years hoping that some day he would be a "Channel 2 reporter". He promised me I wouldn't have to be in Idaho for the 2 full yrs and he did it! He got me home in 18 months and has now officially landed his dream job! I love you Ty and I know you will be the best reporter out there! I can't wait to see where you take your career next! :)

TIME

Why is it that 8 hours seems to be an eternity when I am at work? I can't explain the dread I feel when my alarm goes off and I know that I have to go and sit in front of a computer for the next 8 hours! (Luckily I have blogs that I can visit to keep my sanity!) I just don't think it is fair that when you are having fun on vacation or with friends or on a date with your husband time flies and then when you really want the time to go by it feels like time is stuck and it will never be 6:00. Then to top it off when you are finally free and all you really want is to be in your nice warm house, you have to join the rat race of people who are running home from their job also. MAN it sucks being a grown up! Well there's my bit of whining for the day. I know there are people out there that feel the same way so here's to a long happy weekend! :)

Celebrating the New Year!

For New Year's Eve this year we hosted a party at our house. We had dinner and played games until it was time to celebrate at midnight. Ty, of course, had to work so we just decided to have a party without him until he could come home after the ten o'clock news. Luckily he got home just before midnight! Thank you to everyone for coming! It was really fun!

TY'S FAN MAIL.......

Okay so I have a funny story that I have been laughing about for the past few days that some of you may enjoy! So just about a month after we moved back home and Ty was working at Channel 2 he got an email from a fan. Of course the fan is some college girl wondering if cute Ty is single. She attached her picture and all. Well of course knowing Ty he loves to rub it in that some girl thinks he's cute and that he get's "fan mail". I have never really been a jealous person so I always say "good Ty that means you are doing a good job" and just let it go. But I must confess it kinda bugs. Anyways on Wednesday Ty's phone is ringing over and over again with the station's number showing up each time. Naturally he answers thinking they are going to call him in when he hasn't had a day off for about 14 days. Much to his surprise it has been all his friends from the station and they are laughing hysterically. Well Ty had gotten another email from a fan. This time they say he is adorable and are wondering once again if he is single. But the funny part that I enjoy is that it is from a MAN and he is wondering if Ty is leaning a little toward the gay side! Isn't that funny?!!! I love it! So from now on whenever Ty teases me that he gets fan mail I can usually shut him up by bringing up the question of whether he is leaning toward the gay side! :) Hopefully he won't be getting too many more emails b/c he submitted his biography the other day that mentions he is married (to a woman) which will be posted on the KUTV website.

Time to Reflect.......

As we embark on the New Year we thought it would be fun to remember all the memories we have from 2007! (especially since we didn't have a blog to document it yet!)
What better way to start the time line than us celebrating the new year 2007?! My parents and little sis' Brecken met us in Idaho and we drove up to West Yellowstone to do some snowmobiling and celebrating! Oh what fun we had!

In February we took a girls trip to Scottsdale, AZ. My sister Rachael's in-laws have a second home down there that they let us go to each year for her birthday. This year my mom and Andrea couldn't come but the rest of us went and had a very relaxing trip! Thanks Rach! Love ya!

For Easter we got to come home and spend the holiday with the Perry's. The easter bunny hid the eggs extra hard for the older kids this year with money rather than candy! How did he know that's what we wanted?!!

Many hot summer nights we would stroll around the green belt in Idaho Falls. It is a three mile path that loops around the falls on the Snake River! Our good friends the Padilla's would meet us down there for a relaxing night. We will really miss them!

In July we went with the Chapman's to our annual Newport Beach trip! As usual it was the hit of the summer! We love the beach!

Ty's parents and my mom came up to Idaho Falls for Danielle's graduation from BYU-Idaho.

Over the 24th of July we got to spend the week in Lake Powell with the Perry's. The weather was so nice and it was fun to spend time with Ty's extended family.

In September we finally moved home to Salt Lake City, Utah. Ty got his dream job at Channel 2 news and Danielle got her first REAL job as a home loan consultant at Washington Mutual. Does she love it? .... Still debatable. :)

To top of a fantastic year Ty gave me a trip to Las Vegas to see Celine Dion's 5th to last show at Ceasar's Palace. We had such a fun time doing all of our Christmas shopping on a girls trip to Vegas! Thanks Ty! I love you!

2007 treated us well and we are looking forward to what 2008 brings us........

We've Arrived!

After spending too much time looking at other people's blogs and a lot of urging from friends we have finally caved in! We hope everyone enjoys hearing about our crazy life and forgive us for our blogging "techniques". We are definitely in the learning stage!
