Happy Valentine's Day!

I never knew I could love someone so much! You are my best friend! Kate and I are so lucky to have you!

What a SPECIAL day!

It all started at 5:30 in the morning. I woke up to a sharp pain as I turned on my side and then felt a gush of water in my bed. I woke up Ty, telling him I wasn't sure if my water had just broke or if I had wet the bed. I then got up and ran to the bathroom with water gushing the whole time. At this point Ty was out of his bed gathering everything we were going to need. Ty's claim to fame is that he had followed the doc's directions and had had his bag packed for three days. However, I hadn't packed one thing thinking that it might jinx us and she would never come. So I was trying to get all my stuff together as I changed my clothes into some dry ones. However, after changing 3 times I realized I would be going to the hospital in wet ones. As we drove to the Intermountain Medical Center the contractions began. The were getting harder and closer together every minute. (I think Ty ran 3 red lights.) After we got checked in things went quickly. I was at a four when they first checked me but after the next contraction I was at a six. This is when the nurse decided she would go find the anesthesiologists herself rather than paging him because I REALLY needed to get the epidural before it was too late. After the epidural they put the catheter in and that moved me to an 8. When I was at a 9 1/2 Dr. Terry got there. I was so glad he got there in time! I knew if he was there everything would go okay. At this point he put me on oxygen because (I didn't know this at the time) the umbilical chord was wrapped around Kate's neck two times and her heart rate was going down. After everything was set up I pushed for 14 minutes and our baby girl was here! She weighed 6 lbs 2 oz and was 19 in. with a full head of hair! It really was the most amazing experience of my life and I will never forget it! The nurses were shocked at how fast she came especially for my first baby. They said on my next one I better fly to the hospital or else we could be delivering in the car! Here are some pictures of the special day:
This is two days before Kate was born- about to explode!

My three sister were there the whole time with my mom and dad on the phone who were in Mexico! (Kate wasn't supposed to come for two more weeks)

This is where Ty stayed the whole time. Ty gets very woozy with blood, needles, or anything medical. He had also taken Nyquil before we went to bed because he felt a cold coming on. Trying to counteract the Nyquil we were feeding him Coke along with granola bars. I think that Dr. Terry was more worried about Ty than he was me. In between contractions he was talking to Ty about his latest stories and movies they had seen just to make sure that Ty was still with us. He did pull through and cut the chord though! Nice Job Ty!

Our new and more complete family!

Special thanks to Dr. Terry for leaving his bishop interviews to come and make sure Kate made it safely into the world!

Perry Family Shower

Ty's sister, mom, cousins, and aunts threw me another great shower. It was fun to see all his extended family! Especially Piper and Elaine who flew here from Arizona for eight hours just for the shower!!!! It was so much fun!

Thank you to everyone that helped put on the shower! I got so many great things and it was really fun!

Christmas Festivities

So can you tell I haven't had to work the last week??? It has been so nice! I have been able to get caught up on A LOT of sleep that I needed REALLY bad, clean my house, and BEST of all update my blog! I am so proud of myself.... I am on a roll!

On Christmas Eve Ty didn't have to work!!!! Can you believe it? First time in our four years of marriage! So we spent the night with his family at the Barrus home. We had a big dinner and then we put on an award winning rendition of the nativity.
Ty and I were Mary and Joseph, Hadley an angel, and Alex and Jane were shepherds over Johnny who was a sheep. However, Maggie, a much cuter Mary, was the post birth Mary.

On Christmas day, Ty had to work so I spent the day at my parents without him. We had a gourmet brunch and then put a Christmas movie down on the theater for the kids while everyone else took a snooze, then we had homemade lasagna and breadsticks and opened gifts. My family draws names and then we are all required to make homeade gifts for each other. It makes gift opening so much more special! Everyone always pulls it off really well and it is fun to see what people come up with! (However, it can get stressful getting your present ready to give!) Ty got there shortly after the 6:00 news so he didn't miss out on the gift exchange which was good cause he worked really hard on his gift! He made Rachael a dvd of pictures and video clips from all of their past Christmases. He had alot of late nights at the station working on their editing software. Unfortunately, I didn't feel very good all day so I didn't get a single picture. All in all we had a great Christmas and can't wait for next year when our little girl will be here to enjoy it with us!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!!

This year my family went to the Garden at the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Then afterward we went and walked around Temple Square looking at the lights. Ty disagrees (he's wrong) but I am pretty sure Ty and I have never done that together. Our first year of marriage we were too busy and then we lived in Idaho and just never got down there! So it was really fun to do it this year!

Home Sweet Home!

This is a picture of our cute front porch after the first big snow storm. I had aspirations to get ribbon in my garland but never really got around to it. Thanks to Brecken for helping me drill the hooks for the garland though... It was quite a task! I just loved having a real garland that would smell so good as you walked in the front door! And thanks to Ty for hanging the lights. He didn't think his knees would ever be the same again!

This year we got all new ornaments for our tree that match the look of our house better! I love how it turned out.

Since my last post I had the girls in my life I thought I better mention the cute boys I have in my life! Walter had just woken up so he wasn't quite sure about getting his picture taken. I love (and Mark and Walter do too) when Ty comes and whisks them away entertaining them so I can have a break! He is going to be such a good dad!

December

I did a little bit better in December with pictures....

Ty and I LOVE real Christmas trees! We went to the lot this year and found our tree literally in two minutes! It was perfect and they had it strapped on the good 'ol Camry and we were on our way!
Ty just got put in as the first counselor of the Elder's Quorom and one of his assignments was to help clean up a nativity that our stake and a couple of church's in our area put on. We were glad he knew about it though cause otherwise we would have never gone and it really was so cool! They had real camels and sheep, the highschool choir was there singing and all real actors (including baby Jesus). It was also in a beatiful setting on the stake property! We had Jane and Alex and Johnny over for dinner and then we went to it. It was really fun and actually quite spiritual. It helped us remember the real meaning of Chritmas!
The cute Barrus family!
This is a picture of my CUTE piano students! I had my first Christmas recital and it went so well! I was so proud of all my students and their hard work! For alot of them this was their first time ever performing and they did awesome!
My sisters and my mom threw me a shower with close friends and family. It was so much fun and I got so many great things for our baby girl!

These girls are who I spend most my days with: Lillian and Bella. They are my best friends! (Don't mind my swollen face....)
